Readers Ages Our Team Dominic Killinger Publisher and MD Dominic started InTheSnow 10 years ago, disrupting the ski publishing marketplace that was drowning in traditional old newsstand magazines that hadn’t changed in years. Launching the first monthly Freemium Ski Magazine in the UK through the largest UK retail chains enabled InTheSnow to quickly reach a large readership and engage with the biggest brands in the industry. Now literally upwards of 2.5 million skiers per month through multiple digital and social channels, as well as maintaining the hard copy magazine, InTheSnow is the most widespread ski content in Europe today. Patrick Thorne Chief Editor Patrick has been a full time, year round, professional ski writer for 30 years. Nicknamed “The Snow Hunter” he has identified 100 countries where it is possible to ski and located more than 6,000 ski areas in 80 countries, visiting more than 260 ski resorts personally. For the past 15 years Patrick has published a weekly bulletin of stories from ski resorts all around the planet, notching up more than 8,000 reports. He has received several awards for his work and was named “One of 20 People to know in Ski” by The Times. Debbie Gabriel Operations Director After 17 years in the blue chip corporate world, the call of the mountains became too much for Debbie, so in 2011, her passion for skiing became her business. Now working directly alongside the Publisher and Managing Director of InTheSnow, Debbie looks after the operational side of the business. Debbie has a clear focus in mind; “To maintain the market leading position that InTheSnow has in the UK, and continue to lead the winter sports publishing world from the front.” Sally Bartlett Equipment Editor There is only one Ski Bartlett and therefore only one Sally Bartlett! Ski Bartlett was established in 1965, with 50 years of ski experience, they are one of the UK’s most popular independent specialist ski shops. Emmanuelle Châtel Brand and Digital Manager Emmanuelle graduated in Communication & Marketing from Grenoble Business School (as well as studying in Lyon, Katowice and Caen!). Moving straight into the world of publishing after graduation, after a few years she left the confines of the office for wide-open spaces to experience a true adventure in the French Alps. Captured by this lifestyle so unique, and so fond of sports (boardsport, running, yoga, dancing), now one thing is for certain: she won’t ever be far away from the mountains! Sega Fairweather Ski Tuition Editor Sega represented Great Britain for 8 years, concluding the 2009 season with 14 titles at the British Land National Ski Championships. Since retiring she spent 4 years at Team Evolution as Head U14s/U16s Coach, also coaching the British Children’s Ski Team at selected international events. Sega has completed 5 seasons in the 4 Vallées during which time she earned the highest qualifications in the British (BASI), Swiss and French systems. Sega enjoys being out on the mountain whether she is snowboarding, powder skiing or doing some freestyle in the park, nevertheless finds beginners and timid skiers the most rewarding to work with! Gaby Le Breton Contributor From the moment Gabriella first stood on skis aged two and a half (sporting a canary yellow onesie) she was hooked. Having spent much of her youth living in Austria and Switzerland, striving to perfect the art of the hip-swinging 1980s ‘Euro-style’ skiing, she discovered parabolic skis in 2000 and relearned how to ski over the course of two winter seasons in Aspen, Colorado. Undeterred by the fractured neck, broken cheek, three concussions, broken thumb and repeated knee injuries sustained over her ski years, Gabriella is as enthusiastic as ever about hitting the slopes and has skied in over 110 resorts across the world and contributes articles about skiing to newspapers and magazines including The Telegraph, The Financial Times and Condé Nast Traveller. Max Blind Digital Developer Max heads up our back office and front end development strategy for both InTheSnow and Powder Sky our development arm. He isn’t a skier but is keen to give it a go! However having just seen his first child into the world, I’m guessing it’s going to be a while before they hit the slopes for the first time. Max is a self taught web developer and started at a very young age teaching himself basic code and now has a range of skills including some on page design. Megan Hughes Social Media & Digital Content Megan has inherited a love of the mountains from her parents, who met as ski guides back in the 80s. After completing a Masters degree in International Journalism at the University of Sussex, Megan pursued her dream of working a ski season as a resort rep in St. Anton, which she absolutely loved. As part of the team here, she is delighted to be combining her love of skiing with her journalism and social media skills.
